June 25, 2012 – Sooo Pinoy Food Tour Day 1 in Davao City
“Mabuhay! – We just landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport” – an announcement that interruptedmy dreams of having an extended food trip in Malaysia as my adventure continues in Penang Island. We arrived in Manila at around 4:15am and since my next flight will be at around 9am, I decided just to stay at the airport and wait for the Sooo Pinoy team.
Why am I in Davao every Month? – I was in Davao last June for the Davao Food Appreciation Tour together with Davao Bloggers. I’m now here in Davao for the exciting Sooo Pinoy Food Tour and I will probably be here again for the Kadayawan Festival 2012 next month.

Upon arrival in Davao City, we dropped by the hotel to leave our things then proceeded to the City Hall to meet the Mayor of Davao City.
Our first stop was at Dencio’s Kamayan located in Lanang, Davao City. Started in 1998, Dencio’s Kamayan is a family owned restaurant and their first branch was at the back of Victoria Carpark. Through word of mouth, the restaurant became popular as one of the local restaurants that serves great Filipino grilled food at affordable prices.
Their signature food are the grilled items namely Chicken Barbecue, Pork Barbecue, Grilled Spare Ribs, Ribs Espesyal, and Sari-Sari Espesyal. Other favorites are seafood dishes like Grilled Panga, Sizzling Bangus Belly, Grilled Squid, Grilled Tiyan ng Isda, and Pinoy staples such as Kare-kare and Crispy Pata.

For our food tasting, We tried their famous Chicken Barbecue, Pork Sisig and Ribs Espesyal. I like their chicken barbeque.. Whats the secret? They marinated the chicken overnight and once cooked the chicken is served with a special sweet sauce.
Only in Davao
My favorite is their Ribs Espesyal, its has a little bit of sweetness much like a honey cured ham and the meet is sooo juicy and tender. Their Pork Sisig is served with crispy chicharon… its soooo good!
The restaurant now has 4 branches in Davao, one in Tagum and one in General Santos.
