5 Tips To Impress Your Blind Date At Maribago Bluewater Cebu’s Molto Italiano
You finally decided to follow the advice of your best buddy to do something about your having a ‘no-girlfriend-since-birth’ status and finally allow your mom to set you up on a blind date with one of her colleague’s daughters.

Not that you’re desperate but you just don’t have the guts to ask out a random stranger at a coffeeshop or at a club. It’s not that you’re ugly or something, probably just a little, but I believe you just lack confidence. We never know, maybe you’re just a late bloomer at thirty.
You then find out her dad works as a manager at Maribago Bluewater in Mactan Island and that he wants the date to take place within the resort during lunch time at Molto Italiano on a Sunday since he doesn’t trust you yet. Why not? You look angelic.

Fret not, just follow @slaypinas on Instagram so that I can teach you #HowToSLAY.

Tip 1: Getting There.
There are a lot of options from Cebu City. You can take a taxi or ride a jeepney and face the crazy traffic. Or you could meet up at Pier 4. Ride the 15-peso ferry to Mactan Island. Yes, there’s a ferry which cuts the travel time from two hours to just twenty minutes. This boat ride is actually quite romantic with the smell of stale sea breeze, used oil and rust.
Wear something white so that you’d look innocent. Oops, no flowers yet. You wouldn’t want to give her the hassle of carrying them, do you?
You finally see her for the first time. Don’t worry, you can order beer at the restaurant, to ease the tension. Not because she looks horrible, dude trust your mom, she knows your type.
Now is also the perfect opportunity to put your best foot forward and try to impress her with your interesting stories, what you’re passionate about and crazy fun experiences you’ve went through. Basically, tell her what it’s like to be with you.
Finally, ride a jeepney to Maribago and see her reaction. I don’t know about you, but simplicity has always been one of my most valued assets when looking for a potential partner.

Drop off just a mere walking distance to Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort then ride the electric-powered cart to the restaurant. Her father’s a manager there for heaven’s sake.

Tip 2: What to Order.
Molto Italiano Cebu’s menu consists of Italian favorites from appetizers to desserts. You can order one of each if you got the cash. If not, choose these bestsellers:

1. Salmone Al Forno Con Patate E Fagiolini
I know, crazy name to pronounce right? It’s basically an oven baked salmon with pea smashed potato and haricot vert. You then think how it’s cheaper to eat canned tuna at home.

Trust me, this dish was so good, you’d actually eat it extra slow to savor every bite. Add to that the mashed potato and the side salad with a kind of like a balsamic vinaigrette, my goodness. You’ll actually be depressed once it’s gone.
2. Gamberi, Rucola E Provolone Panini
Shrimp, provolone and arugula artisan ciabatta served with roasted potato wedges. You’ll probably think it’s easier to just buy bread and cheese, fill it with seafood mayonnaise, toast it, then voila, exact replica, no.

See those TV commercials of Italian food where the cheese extends like that of Spiderman’s web? You’ll definitely experience it first-hand.
3. Costole Di Maiale Affumicate
Italian-style smoked ribs served with mashed potato and haricot vert. You then think about the other cheaper baby back ribs at the mall that’s overly washed with barbecue sauce much like soup.

Believe me, this had a unique zing to it with just enough flavor to keep you coming back for more.
Have you tried eating something with which you wished you could record the moment and re-live it again in the future? This is one of those moments. And again, there’s those epic side dishes too.
4. Drinks
Let her choose, or if she’s unsure, order a four seasons juice or smoothie, it’s their bestseller and quite a healthy option. And also beer for your dried-up mouth and shaking legs.

Tip 3: Do A 10-Minute Walk Around The Resort.
Since the food preparation would take a moment (just look at how they prepare each dish with love), take her on a personal tour around the resort even if it’s your first time there and that she probably has been there a gazillion times. Nothing beats a walk on the beach.
Tip 4: Play Crazy Questions While Eating.
Savor the moment, eat slowly, talk about the food and everything around you. There’s also some acoustic music on the background provided for by the adjacent Allegro Restaurant.

If you run out of things to talk about, play crazy questions.
This game is simple yet effective. You just alternatively ask each other crazy questions, and the one asked must answer the best way she could.
The catch? Once a question is asked, it can never be asked again, so choose wisely.
Tip 5: Do a Harana.
I don’t care if you’re a good singer or not. There will come a moment when the vocalist will urge a brave soul from the audience to participate. Stand up, volunteer and make a fool out of yourself. I assure you, she’ll feel kilig down her spine.

And last but not the least, accompany her to where she’s heading after your date and find a way to buy her some flowers or any cute parting gift you see along the way. By the way, good job you smooth operator. You sure made me proud. Expect a second date.
