Things to do in El Nido Palawan
Ecotourism, Nature Trip, Travel and Tours, Travel Tips — By melo on March 8, 2010 9:53 amThe town of El Nido has thankfully been able to maintain its character throughout the recent boom in tourism. There may be more guest houses and restaurants, but El Nido has managed to thrive with its lovely beachfront ambiance and carefree, laidback atmosphere. El Nido should definitely be on your list of places to visit in the Philippines, and if you do find yourself in El Nido, there are several activities that you should attempt to experience while you are there.

Island Hopping in El Nido Palawan
Island hopping is probably the most popular activity to El Nido. Most operators offer about the same packages with only slight differences based on if you want to snorkel or scuba dive, or simply travel from island to island. It’s usually 5-10 persons per boat and lunch is normally provided.
Another popular recreation in El Nido is sea kayaking. There is nothing else better than cruising around the islands in total silence. Depending on the currents it can be a little strenuous but don’t let that detract you. Two person kayaks are available to rent for either a half or full day.
There are many areas outside of the actual town of El Nido that you may want to explore. Many tourists enjoy renting a motor bike and exploring these outlying areas. Depending on far you want to go and the varying levels of terrain, you may want to consider renting a car or even a 4×4 vehicle if you are going deeper into the jungle. There are several reputable tour operators around town that can point you in the right direction.

Way to Nagkalit-Kalit Waterfalls
Here, cheaper is not always better as you want to make sure the vehicle you rent has been well maintained and won’t break down on you in the middle of nowhere. Possible trips here would include a full coastal tour of the Municipality of El Nido which would take you around the top the island and back into town. Another interesting tour would be Taytay for a day or consider checking out the Makinit hot spring and Nagkalit-Kalit waterfalls.
Starting April 14, 2010, flights to El Nido will be every Wednesday, Sunday and Monday and the additional Monday flight will be available until end of June 2010. If you want to book your tickets to El Nido, visit www.FlySeair.com or call (+632) 8490100
