You know how sometimes you just have to take a break from the rigors of traveling? I mean, while I really enjoy sitting in bumpy buses and exploring choppy waters and hidden grottos by pump boat, sometimes I just need a chance to rest and recover.

Travel is certainly a joy, but when you do it a lot like I do, you need to take a break now and then. And when I say a “break”, that means its away from the noisy crowd and and the annoying beach vendors.

Three months ago, I needed one of those breaks. Of course, I took a plane from Manila to Kalibo which I rarely do but I pretty much dont have enough choice:). Boracay is like my second home. One of the resorts I had never stayed though was the Boracay Beach Club. I’ve heard great things through the years and I decided to check it out just for a couple of nights. Before I go much farther, I should tell you…I ended up staying for almost a week!

The location is stellar sitting right in the midst of the Station One party area and close enough to White Beach that I could easily jump into the water from my window. The Boracay Beach Club is not just another cheap bungalow joint. It is an upscale luxury property with flat screen TVs, wifi, huge showers, a lap pool, and it’s own lounges and restaurant.  Although they dont have an elevator, I still enjoyed my stay in the resort. The resort offers family-style hospitality and I felt that I could ask anything and distant enough that I felt alone…which is perfect for me.

I was able to chill out on the roof top lounge, get an in room massage, lay in a very comfortable bed, and watch American television programs on my huge flat screen television. My two day rest and recovery turned into a week of self indulgent vacationing as I did nothing but read, write, blog and enjoy the full service amenities of this top rated resort.

It’s a little pricey compare to the resorts where I usually stay at about $80 U.S. per night, but the same thing just about anywhere else would cost you $400 per night, so I’m not really complaining. Besides, I felt like I can go back to work and travel for months after my stay at the resort because I’m so well rested.
