One of the things I love about traveling in Palawan is that it’s easy to find directions and the locals are tourist friendly. Most people come to Palawan because of its beautiful beaches and relaxing pace of life. Just like I do.

Nagtabon Beach : Secret Revealed

After having dinner near the pool, Norsan Barilea – Microtel’s Marketing & Communications Manager discussed to us our next day itinerary. We are still waiting for our confirmed schedule for the Underground River tour and while having coffee in the hotel lobby, we explored for other places to visit after or before the “UR” trip.

Nagtabon Cove

Good thing Rey Felix Rafols – one of the owners of Puerto Fresh Palaweño Cuisine – the Microtel’s restaurant concessionaire suggested that we visit a secluded beach called Nagtabon Beach Cove. I’ve never heard of the place before that’s why I immediately googled it after our dinner and all I said was “Wow”. I just want to jump off my seat and head to that place ignoring the fact that it was already 11pm LOL.

White Sand Beach in Puerto Princesa

It’s like shedding a pack of a thousand pounds when I arrive in the cove and stare out at the incredible white sands of Nagtabon Beach.. One of the things that makes Palawan special is the focus on eco-tourism, what that means is that the people here make an effort to keep the marine life healthy, the beaches sparkling, and the diving as some of the best in the world.

Puerto Princesa if really full of surprises, It will not be called a “Forest City” for nothing. Imagine a totally secluded tropical paradise only 45 minutes drive from the busy airport and an hour drive from Microtel Puerto Princesa. There’s definitely no reason for you not to visit this place.

Theres no better way to relax in Paradise than to sit under the shade of  a Palm Tree!

Located in the northwest part of Puerto Princesa, Nagtabon offers a lovely and untouched stretch of white sand beach which is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and other water sports activity. The area is surrounded by lush rain forest with a breathtaking view of the South China Sea.

Will I go back? YES!!!

It’s where I want to stay forever!! That’s what I said after seeing the jaw dropping scenery. It’s actually inside the very cool little town of Bacungan and while I won’t tell you the name of the hidden little place I like to stay, I will tell you that you can find resorts right on the beach so that you can start and end each day with a stroll down the 800 meter long stretch of perfect sand and dive into the amazingly clear blue waters of the ocean whenever you like. I will definitely go back and stay a little longer if not forever:)

If you come to Nagtabon Beach looking for me, look for the guy with a big smile on his face sitting in a hammock and sipping a cold one. You will probably find more than one person fitting that description though.

  3. Thank you very much for your very nice review of our tourist attractions in Puerto Princesa particularly Nagtabon. Your pictures are very nice. Unfortunately, you missed the stunning sunset which I was fortunate to capture at various angles sometime last year. I hope we could finally get an investor who will transform Nagtabon into a premiere tourist destination in Puerto Princesa. This will complement the main tourist attraction of Puerto princesa, the Underground River which is a strong contender and the Philippines’ only entry to the 7 New Wonders of Nature Search. Incidentally, our family are one of the owners of the beachfront properties in Nagtabon.
