Planning a summertime escape to El Nido Palawan? Well, you have several options when determining how to get there.

I personally recommend travel by air. If you have the budget, get a flight to El Nido and enjoy the quickest way to reach El Nido from Manila. The flight takes just over an hour and will deposit you directly at El Nido Airport which is a short 4Km ride from the Poblacion.

El Nido Airport (also known as Lio Airport) is located in Villa Libertad in El Nido Palawan. This rustic, rugged and unique airstrip made from rolled gravel is owned and operated by the Ten Knots Development Corporation. Currently there are two airlines servicing El Nido. Transvoyager Inc which is a charter airline that operates as a sister company to the two main resorts on El Nido, and Southeast Asian Airlines or SEAIR.

Southeast Asian Airlines is the country’s premier leisure airline and started flying this route in May of 2009. Seair currently flies to El Nido every Sunday and Wednesday.

If your budget is a little tighter, there are land options available to you as well. You will still need to fly into Puerto Princesa but it is way more cheaper than flying direct to El Nido. From there you can take a bus, but be warned it is an 8 hour ride over very bumpy roads. If you don’t mind though, it’s a definite cost saver.

Bus Trip
There are air conditioned shuttle vans that make this trip as well but will cost more than the regular bus. This is kind of a happy medium between the air and bus I found. The trip is about 2 hours shorter but you will be way more comfortable in the van than in the bus.

El Nido Transportation
Tricycles in El Nido

There is a sea option as well but I do not recommend this mode of travel to El Nido. San Nicholas Lines has cargo boats every Wednesday and Saturday which means that you will be in a vessel for 30 hours and you are lucky if the trip is not delayed. For this reason you should explore the air and land routes first when planning your trip to El Nido.
