Where to buy your Cameras and Accessories in Manila?

Best Photography Stores & Services in Manila

The other day, I wasn’t paying attention, and I sat down on my DSLR camera. I was totally bummed out because I had smashed the LCD screen of my new toy camera, and since it was touch-operated, that meant I couldn’t perform any of the functions I loved about it.

Lucky for me, I happened to know that Hidalgo Street in Quiapo is known throughout the Philippines as the best place to buy or repair your Camera. Some people are scared to go there since they have heard the stories about pickpockets. Still, I’m telling you, if you need a DSLR Camera, photography equipment, a vintage Camera, or a simple point-and-shoot camera- go to Hidalgo Street in Quiapo, Manila.

I was able to buy my Nikon D90 kit for a very low price in Hidalgo. You might think the costs would be like those in the malls, but in fact, they were far less. The Camera came along with a 2-year in-store warranty so that if anything happens, I can bring it back and replace it at no cost. That’s the reason why photographers in the Philippines always head here for photo and video requirements.

I took a look online, and the price difference between the Hidalgo stores and other places is as much as $160 U.S. dollars! I’m not trying to be an economist of some sort, but I think the reason why they can offer huge discounts is that the cost of rent is cheap in Hidalgo, and they usually pick up overstock in bulk and then sell it at the minimum profit.

It turns out my camera wasn’t really fixable for a reasonable price. That’s the bad news. The good news is that I could buy a new lens for my Nikon DSLR for less money!

Before you head to Quiapo, you may want to check if they have available stocks to make sure you are not going to waste your time. Most of the stores don’t have an online price list, so you better call them to easily compare prices. My recommended Camera Store in Hidalgo has the complete address and contact numbers. PS. We don’t provide a Camera Price List since the Camera prices keep changing weekly and sometimes daily.

Thanks to The Raving Lunatic for the complete Hidalgo Camera Shops Contact details list.

For safety purposes, I recommend you keep your money in your front pocket, don’t wear flashy things, make sure your bag is strong and securely attached to you, and avoid any ‘friendly’ guys who offer to help you. Also, make sure you visit at least a few of the stores since I found my Camera in two different shops with a difference of almost 20% in the price.

How to go to Hidalgo

  • To get to Hidalgo, take the Yellow Line to Carriedo Station.
  • Exit and walk to SM Carriedo, go through the store, exit, and put you in the neighborhood.
  • From Cubao, take FX and Jeepneys plying to Quiapo then get off at the Quiapo Church.
  • Hidalgo Street is a few steps away from the Quiapo Church.

Can we trust Camera Shops in Hidalgo?

Yes, Camera stores in Hidalgo are reputable although make sure to ask if the item you are purchasing has an official warranty from the manufacturer. Some of the products are cheaper because they are sourced abroad, and they only offer a store warranty.

Another good alternative if you want to buy a Camera is to purchase the items from online sellers like dbgadgets.net or Kimstore.theshop.ph; online sellers offer the lowest price since they don’t have a physical store to keep up. If you are not comfortable buying online and have it delivered to your preferred address, you can meet the seller and pay the item COD Cash on Delivery.
