All the months and months of planning have finally paid off – you’re taking the family to Disney World! If you’ve never been before or are returning, you know that Disney World is often referred to as The Happiest Place on Earth! And why not? It’s where the characters you grew up and have come to love, come alive! It’s a tangible wonderland of enchantment and excitement the likes of which have yet to be surpassed. Few have tried, most don’t come close.

HongKong Disneyland

The best way to secure this experience is through Disney World packages that are available online. They are comprehensive and offer deals, tips and suggestions to make your trip better than the rest. Accommodation is one of the most important and worrisome factors of any vacation but once you’ve got this squared away, you can take advantage of the following tips – get ready for some fun!

1. The Early Bird Catches The Worm!

And by “worm” we mean excitement! This tip is always up for debate as so many people don’t want to wake up early on their vacation. This however is one time that getting up before everyone else directly equates a day of enjoyment for you and your family. Get you rest in and set your alarm – you’ll get the opportunity to beat the crowds and have a chance at the park without the heat. Also, you’ll get to cut out mile-long lines and get the chance to experience more rides.

2. Dine, Don’t Dash!

Disney World is popular – get settled in that fact from now. This means that thousands of people will be swarming every attraction and let’s be honest; swarming builds up an appetite. Even the smaller restaurants at Disney have been known to turn customers away because they are at capacity. Can you imagine being hungry and having to wait two hours in line? Not cool! There’s hope, though! Call the Central Reservations Office and book dining times at the restaurants of your choice way in advance. When your family looks at you with those starving eyes you can comfort them with “Don’t worry, we’re on the list!”

3. Pace Yourself!

There’s a lot to do at Disney World and each attraction is more enticing than the next. If you don’t go in with a game plan, you’ll get lost and frustrated. Winging it might be fun anywhere else, but with so many rides and so many sights to see and characters to meet, you may actually miss out on some of the best if you’re busy scrambling from one place to the next. Use the internet and research the activities you’re most interested in. Make a list and grade by priority. This way you can guarantee that you’ll experience most of the magic with none of the stress!

There are many more tips and tricks you can employ to make this Disney World vacation the most enjoyable and memorable you’ll ever have. All it takes is some good old fashioned research and planning! You don’t have to do it alone either – get your family in on it as well. Delegate Delegate Delegate! Good luck and have an awesome time!

Guam shares a vibrant story of rich local tradition and unique Chamorro culture; and it is for this reason why the Guam Island Fiesta Tour (GIFT) has been a continuous success for the past years. Inviting visitors into the homes of local families for fiesta celebrations, GIFT provides a glimpse of Guam’s history and culture, encapsulating centuries’ worth of tradition through a day of local festivities.

Guam Cultural Dancers

The program is sponsored by Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) in partnership with the Mayors Council of Guam and LamLam Tours to offer an immersive and intimate experience to tourists and residents. GIFT occurs in correspondence with local fiesta celebrations to honor a Catholic patron saint, allowing visitors to join the festivities with local residents.

Participants are greeted with shell leis and Chamorro dance performances, invited to participate in interactive cultural activities like coconut husking, talaya throwing, and tuba drinking, and are treated to large tables laden with authentic Chamorro cuisine.

“We are not just telling our visitors about Guam’s history, our food, or the way we celebrate with song and dance – we’re showing them and inviting them to experience it first-hand,” said GVB General Manager Joann Camacho. “We have received outstanding feedback from everyone involved. Our visitors love it, our families enjoy teaching about our Chamorro culture, and our industry stakeholders have begun packaging GIFT as an optional tour with airlines and hotel stays.”

For 2012, GIFT will happen in fiestas in Barrigada, Inarajan, Merizo, Tamuning, Santa Rita, Agat, Talofofo, Mangilao, Yona, Agana Heights, and Dededo, kicking off with the Barrigada celebration of San Vicente Ferrer on April 15.

For reservations, visitors may contact their tour agent or Kiyoko or Rex at LamLam Tours at (671) 649-5314/5. For $30 per adult or $20 per child, LamLam Tours will pick up visitors at several hotels in the morning, transport them to the host family, and return to hotels at 2 p.m.

For more information about GIFT, visit www.facebook.com/i.like.guam or e-mail info@visitguam.com.ph. You may also call the Philippine office at 519-6756.

Itchy feet, passion for travel, a talent in story telling, a not so abused camera, a Travel Blog and a totally raped backpack (but not complaining), these are the common denominators of the 30 young (and not so young) travel bloggers who recently had a day trip to Mount Pinatubo Crater last January 28, 2012. It’s the biggest out of town trip of Filipino travel bloggers to date and the three major islands in the Philippines are also well represented.

Pinoy Travel Bloggers in Pinatubo – Ada Lajara

Who wants to join for a Pinatubo trip? – A question i read from a Travel Bloggers Facebook Group few weeks back. With total uncertainty If I can still hike due to lack of exercise, I still said yes to challenge myself and also to meet other travel bloggers from different parts of the country.

Crossing the River

We left Manila at exactly 3am, no Filipino time for seasoned travelers like us.. time is valuable. We had a short stopover in one of the Shell Stations in NLex to have breakfast, buy water and hoard some snacks. After the Jollibee fix, we headed to Capas Tarlac for our ultimate Pinatubo Adventure.

Stopover #1 at Shell NLEX

The 4×4 jump off point in Capas Tarlac was already crowded when we arrived and according to our driver, we were about 300 people to trek that day. We started the 4×4 adventure soon after everyone got their assigned vehicle with their group mates.

Nerd Shot by @Winston

We had a short stopover in the middle of the rocky road for nothing but photo op.. Well if its for photo op, nobody will complain for sure LOL.

Stopover #2 at the Mount Pinatubo Trail (photo by Winston)

The crowd was composed of local tourists, Koreans, Chinese, Japanese and Caucasians. I was truly amazed with the huge crowd, I thought we were the only ones to trek that day haha.

Local Transportation

I know I’ve been to this place twice already, one was a trek back in 2005 and the other one was via a sky tour back in 2006 during the Hot Air Balloon fiesta but this trip has a different jump-off point in Capaz Tarlac unlike the one we had before which started in Sapang Bato in Angeles City Pampanga.

Ready Get Set Trek

The 4×4 ride was totally an adventure ride but not as adventurous like the one I had in Paoay Sand Dunes back in 2010. We crossed some wetlands, rivers, rocky areas and dusty roads covered by lahar. I really wanted to take photos while on the road but there’s too much dust and the road is too bumpy so I just decided to keep my camera inside my white (turning brown) Jansport.

Testing the Waters

Back in 2010 when the skyway was still available, the crater can be reached by a 30 minute trek but now that SkyWay needs rehabilitation, we had to trek for almost 3 hours to reach the crater’s view point.

Single Line

Philippines is not just about Imelda’s shoes, Manny Pacquiao and Celebrity turned Politicians, The Philippines bannered the headlines last June 15, 1991 when Mount Pinatubo produced tons of volcanic ashes which brought several parts of the country in the state of calamity.

Mount Pinatubo Crater

On a positive note, the volcanic ashes blocked the sun’s heat from entering the earth for couple of days and eventually cooled the earth down. The data collected after these eruptions show that mean world temperatures decreased by about 1 degree Centigrade over the subsequent two years. This cooling effect was welcomed by many scientists who saw it as a counter-balance to global warming. (source : http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/)

Watch your Steps

Mount Pinatubo is known to all those who travelled to the Philippines. Just to make everyone aware, it is a famous volcano that is located at the island of Luzon which is considered to be a tri-point that combines the Philippine provinces of Zambales, Tarlac as well as Pampanga. The mountain became more popular when it had one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the World in 1991. The volcano as well as the ash cloud generated from that affected the lives of thousands of people.

Tawid Batis

After two decades since the volcano erupted, Mount Pinatubo is now one of the best places in Philippines for trekking. It is for sure that people who go for Mount Pinatubo Trek will be amazed to feel the extreme calmness as well as peace while trekking to Mount Pinatubo.

4×4 Adventure

Couple of years ago, an easy shortcut known as Skyway was developed for the hikers, allowing them to have a shorter route that will extend up to a drop off point for trekking to the crater. During the time that the Skyway is still functional, tourists regardless of age can enjoy trekking in Mount Pinatubo unlike now that the trek entails almost 3 hours of trek to the crater.

Almost Halfway

Along with the two hour hike, an hour of 4 x 4 ride as well as a maximum of 20 minutes to 45 minutes trek to the crater means you will be spending almost four hours to reach the crater. Basically the hikers travel by 4 x 4 vehicles that will take them up to the river bed then a two hour trek will start from where the 4×4′s were parked.

Carbo Loading

Scenic beauty is overwhelming during the entire Mount Pinatubo Trek. With the whole area covered with vegetation with uniquely shaped mountain sides as well as sheer cliffs that are located along side bare volcanic rocks, there’s no shortage of beauty in the place. Adding to the scenic beauty is the 2.5 kilometer lake that is situated inside the crater.

Short Break

Upon reaching the viewpoint, everyone was wowed and amazed with the natural beauty of the crater. The first question I had in mind was, Why does the lake so blue-green? I then asked one of the tour guides and I was informed that it was a product of chemical reaction between volcanic minerals and algaes. Can we swim there? Yes but its risky, make sure that you know how to swim before you even try. You should also avoid drinking the water in the lake. Are there fishes in the lake? The sulphur content in the lake is so high that no underwater fauna can even exist.

Getting Ready to Jump

With Mount Pinatubo Trekking becoming one of the major attractions for locals and most of the foreign tourists who come to the Philippines, there are several travel agencies as well as tour companies that provide attractive tour packages to the crater.

Pinatubo Lake

It was almost 4pm when we left the crater, Going back is the easiest part in all hiking activities but for me I guess that’s not the case. My foot is literally aching that time and I cant wait to reach the jump-off point. We finally reached the 4 x 4 parking area in less than two hours. We headed back to Capaz to freshen up before going to Isdaan for dinner.

Almost There

I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the area and the organized tour guides. The tour guides didn’t only made sure that everyone enjoyed the trek, they also made sure that all the trash will be brought back to the town for proper disposal – that’s what we call eco-tourism in its finest.

Loving the Lake by Journeying Pinay

Tips :

Wear quick drying trekking shoes instead of sandals to avoid sharp tiny rocks that will eventually hurt your feet while trekking.

Bring extra set of clothes, light trekking gear, sunglasses, sun protection and extra food.

Schedule your Pinatubo Trek during weekdays for you to enjoy the Crater area without too much crowd.

Avoid scheduling your Mount Pinatubo Trek during the rainy season since there are increased chances of risk involved in it.

You will be sweating a lot so make sure to bring at least 1.5 liter of water for the trek, there’s no store along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Trek:

Question : Is it really hard to reach the Crater?
Answer : No! If you are physically fit and you can manage walking for two hours then you can do it:)

There are thousands of reasons to visit Brazil, but you don’t need all of those thousands of reason to convince you, right? In fact, you probably already have your mind made up. You’re just exploring for even more reasons to go. You’re in luck. Listed below are 7 more reasons why you should be in Brazil right now!

Carnivals – If you are into wild carnivals with lots of drinking, partying, and plenty of fun stuff to do then Rio is for you. The city is considered to be the mecca place for carnivals, and all things that follow with it.

Copacabana Beach – Famous for its beautiful white-sand shores and ocean blue water Copacabana beach is the place to be! Really, who doesn’t like a hot-sunny day with beautiful woman (and men) walking around enjoying themselves? Lenny kravitz was a favorite in 2005 when he performed there in front of a crowd of 300,000. White-sand, blue ocean, and a top-notch celebrity performing for the masses? Now that is a beach!

Find your future Wife – Of course this isn’t for everyone, but Brazil host some of the most beautiful woman in the world. Especially cariocas, or woman who are very hospitable and friendly. Who doesn’t want a hospitable and friendly wife?

Women Rule Brazil – A short trip to Rio will prove this. In Rio it is believed that the ratio to woman to men is 100/86. That is 100 woman for every 86 guys. That just boosted your chances of finding some female companionship by 100%.

Workout Junkies – Brazil is one of the few nations that believe in staying fit and looking good. A short trip to one of their many cities will prove this. You’ll see woman, men, and sometimes even children doing daily workout exercises on beach. Enjoying the sun and all that their country has to offer.

Start Learning Portuguese – Brazilians love to speak Portuguese. So if you’ve been trying to learn the language, or perhaps you just want to start learning a new language while in a foreign country (uncommon) Brazil is probably the best country to get started with. Who knows, maybe you will find a beautiful cariocas?

Beautiful Weather – All year round you can expect 75 degrees or more, included with sun and clouds. It sounds like perfect weather, and it is! Who doesn’t like sunny days filled with a blue sky and puffy clouds? It makes for great activities and helps induce happiness.

For any holiday-goer looking to enjoy a roasting Mediterranean climate and have some fun in the incandescent Spanish sun, the picturesque province of Galicia is rife with a delectable plethora of sun-kissed beaches on which even the pastiest of visitors couldn’t fail to gain a tan to die for.

Camino de Santiago

Located in the North-West of Spain, the resplendent region basks in a seemingly perpetual glow of sunshine and warmth, and is the perfect haunt for any chronic beach holiday addict. Renowned for its spectacular scenery and lavish natural vibrancy, it differs from many of Spain’s southern resorts in its offering of a more environmentally lush dimension to its visitors.

Pilgrims in Galicia

With a number of majestic mountain ranges to explore, including O Xistral, the Serra Dos Ancares, O Courel and O Eixo, Galicia is home to many peaks for climbers to conquer and walkers and sightseers to discover. Meanwhile, the coastline of Galicia is riddled with various bays and inlets, which are known locally as rias, and provide further scope for intrepid exploration and discovery.

Meanwhile, Galicia’s diverse local environment is also home to an abundance of rivers, to such an extent that it renowned for them, often being dubbed ‘the land of a thousand rivers’. It also boasts an array of serene, sandy beaches to relax on, many of which are quiet and undisturbed by rabbles of tourists that disrupt many naturally picturesque resorts.

Start of Camino views of Spain-Roncesvalles Pass

Galicia also sets itself apart from the rest of Spain in its mouth-watering gastronomy. While much of Spain’s cuisine focuses on pasta and rice, potatoes tend to be the side dish to most fish and meat dishes. Galician cuisine also has a large focus on seafood due to its copious production of fish, crustaceans and shellfish. Being the largest producer of such foods out of all the regions in Spain, it is a generous provider of lusciously fresh and locally caught seafood. Meanwhile, the region also produces a number of wines, many of which are of an internationally lauded standard.

Many towns in Galicia boast an assortment of clubs and bars to enjoy on a night out, meaning that nightlife is exhilarating and plentiful in the province. For example, Santiago de Compostela is rife with options for clubbing and bars.

All in all, Galicia is a naturally picturesque province with flourishing scenery and beautiful beaches. Visitors will not be disappointed by the range of things to do and sights to see in the glorious Galicia. Photos Courtesy of Mydestination.info

Traveling within your means has been a problem for many people nowadays. Limited travel budget are due to the not so good situation of the economy. Many people cannot afford to go on an extravagant vacation because they just do not have the money in order to do so. If you think traveling around the world is out of your budget, then you have to seriously think about all the different discounts that you can get from the different vacation destination places.

Budget Travel Tips

There many great vacation destinations that will offer you a great place to stay without breaking your pocketbook. If you think finding cheap vacation destinations is as hard as finding someone to do the Nanny Jobs.. then think again. Here are some things to think about when you’re trying to find the best estimation for you and your family so you can save the money but still go on a great vacation.

The first thing you need to look at when you’re planning a vacation for your family is to determine what type of vacation you want to go on. Many types include a sightseeing vacation or just going to a destination where you can sit back by the pool or relax. You may want to check MSN.com’ Top Budget travel destinations in the world for 2011 if you want to get some ideas.

Depending on the type of vacation you want to go one can greatly affect how much money you’re going to be paying. You have to take this into consideration because if you do not have money or off are on a limited budget something of this nature could stop you from going on vacation altogether.

Another thing you have to think about when you’re going on a vacation is to choose the right location and the right time of year to go. Boracay can be cheap during off-peak season so you may want to consider visiting the Paradise Island while party animals are not in the island. Many location destinations will offer a discount to drum up more business during the off-season for them. This means you can get great hotel rooms and discounts on the flight just by going at a different time of year when it is not so busy for your location.

There are many other things that you can do in order to make sure that you’re going to get the best vacation destination for you and your family so be sure to look around on the Internet to find discount codes and coupons the next time you go on vacation.
