Affordable Places to Stay in Baguio City

Are you visiting the City of Pines anytime soon? Finding an affordable place to stay in Baguio City is no problem. All you have to do is look to the left, look to the right, go straight ahead, or go straight back. Since Baguio is considered the summer capital of the Philippines and sits in the cool mountains of Benguet, you will find plenty of affordable places to stay no matter what direction you look in.

Baguio City is easy to get around in whether you are using a taxi, going by jeepney, or just hoofing it. The first thing you really need to consider is what do you want to see while you are there. Are you interested in seeing the tourist sites? Are you there for business? Maybe you are there to do some mountain horseback riding?

Or, are you one of those who comes every February for the amazing Panagbenga Flower Festival? It’s important to think of why you are in Baguio city because this will determine where the best place for you to stay is.

Personally, I have a few favorite places that won’t cost you an arm and a leg and give you some options as to what to do with your time.

Atenara House (Phone: 63 (74) 446-9808) sits midway between the things most tourists want to see and the city center. It’s a little bit out of the way for those who want to be in the heart of the nightlife, but you can get a dorm room for as little as $8 U.S. or if you are more interested in having some quality private time the prices go up considerably. Fantastic breakfast is included with this place which is one reason I love it.

Atenara House Baguio City

The City Travel Hotel (0917-506-5067 / 0922-8168-672) is located downtown across from Burnham Park. This place is a fairly basic hotel but the price is reasonable and the location is great.

Near the Lizardo Trans bus station there is a cheap dorm, the Ferionnil Pension House and Dormitory (+63-74-443-6763). This one also includes breakfast and the price is cheap. Convenient but not particularly charming.

Less than a kilometer lies my favorite, the El Cielito Inn Hotel Click here for Rates and Online Reservation (Tel. No.: +637 443 4846, +637 443 5272, +632 250-6020 Email: stay@elcielitoinn.com). This place is located in the city center and yet feels like it is away from the hustle and bustle. It’s a great place for checking out the wonderful nearby nature such as Asin Hot Springs and the Lourdes Grotto or for exploring the downtown attractions. While this isn’t a four or five star hotel, the staff treat you like you are staying at one. And the price, only about $40 US.

There are plenty more options to choose from though. These are only a few of my favorite places to stay in Baguio City. You might even find someplace that is fantastic and you’ve never heard of.
