Kayaking the Friendly Pinoy Sea

An old saying goes ‘You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water’ and nobody knows this more than the Friendship Kayak Expedition Team who’s currently on Day 22 of their arduous 100-day journey.

The expedition that started out as an attempt to add another record to his list, Singaporean adventurer and Guinness World Record holder Khoo Swee Chiow’s daring Philippine adventure has taken a forward ferry to become an exploration of friendship.

Cebu maintains Conde Nast magazine’s 7th best island rank in the world

Cebu has retained for the third straight year its seventh ranking in the list of best island destinations in the world by international Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

A Cebu resort, the Plantation Bay Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City has also maintained its ranking in the prestigious list.

Conde Nast Traveler magazine has recently released the results of the annual Readers’ Choice Awards 2009, a listing of the best cities, islands, hotels, transportation and resorts worldwide.

At 72.6 points, this is Cebu’s ranking for the third straight year and the fourth time in the last five years. Cebu got 70.9 in 2008; 72.3 in 2007 and 72.8 in 2004. Continue Reading

Fort Santiago or “Walled City” is one of the oldest fortifications in Manila. Built in 1571, the first fort was palisaded with structure of logs and earth.

It became the headquarters of the British occupation from 1792 to 1764.

Taguig City to host World Pyro Olympics 2009

The World Pyro Olympics Executive Committee has chosen Taguig, as the host city for the upcoming World Pyro Olympics 2009 (WPO 2009).

Steered to be the Philippines’ premier city by 2020, Taguig was selected by the international committee after evaluation of other various cities.

Slated Nov. 14, 21, 28, Dec. 5 and 12, at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, WPO 2009 is the first international pyro-musical competition in the country that will feature the best pyrotechnics designers from People’s Republic of China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Canada, Germany, the United States, and defending champion Italy.

Taguig is now not only the best city to do business in as the World Bank proclaimed last year, we are now also an entertainment capital that offers world-class shows,” proudly announced Taguig City Mayor Freddie Tinga.

2009 Asian WakePark Championships in Camarines Sur Water-sports Complex

Camarines Sur Water-sports Complex (CWC) is at it again! Governor Lray Villafuerte and the Asian Wakeboard Association brings you the 2nd Asian Wakeboarding Championship to be held on October 30 to November 01 2009.

Camsur, Philippines is the third stop of Asian Wake Park Tour’s (AWPT) three-destination tournament. Singapore and Thailand have recently concluded their AWPT event and now it’s CWC’s shot to claim the spotlight.

Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2009 kicks off today

philippine department of tourismZamboanga City will be the center of activities starting Thursday as the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2009, dubbed as the grandest annual celebration that highlights this city’s unique blend of multi-cultural heritage officially reels off.

Cosechas de Zamboanga, showcasing agricultural products, processed foods and plants and flowers will begin Thursday until the October 15 at the Plaza Pershing.

The agricultural fair formally opened this morning with Mayor Lobregat as the guest of honor.

Another fiesta activity that will kick off Thursday is the Wow Zamboanga, which is a nightly cultural performances featuring this city’s 98 barangays.

The Wow Zamboanga is set to be held at the panoramic Paseo del Mar from October from Thursday until Friday and from Sunday until October 9 starting every 6 p.m. Continue Reading
